Creating a contemporary home that is relaxing energizing and in harmony with the landscape around it Studio Arthur Casas transformed the aura and the visual appeal of a 6.000-square-meter lot in Brazil. Nestled on a small portion of the large chunk of land the gorgeous private home was built keeping in mind future demands of the homeowners and the need for new houses for both the children and the grandkids.
Designed to meet the demands of a family with a young child and a dog the modern-minimal interior had to be both refined and kid-friendly without seeming far too sterile or impersonal. This was accomplished using a combination of raw textures and wood along with a neutral backdrop and pops of bright color.
Revamping a classic Eichler home is always a challenge both in terms of design efficiency and aesthetics. Yet over the last few years we have not seen anyone do it better and on a more consistent basis than the folks at Klopf Architecture.
It is the lower level that contains the guest rooms with the second floor housing the main living area kitchen and dining area and the top level holding the master suite along with other bedrooms and bathrooms. With mesmerizing views of the surrounding landscape a minimal design style that puts practicality ahead of flowery aesthetics and a hint of Scandinavian simplicity this beautiful inventive and yet classic chalet stands out from those that surround it in Anzère.
Designed by SeARCH the overall form of Chalet Anzère was inspired by traditional chalet design and construction in this part of Switzerland. Unlike more contemporary and commercial structures with multiple gables the design of this magical modern home is far more ergonomic and suited to the local weather. A garage towards the back of the home offers entry into the fabulous abode with an elevator carved into the mountain connecting its three different levels.
Wooden cabinets and wonderful fireplaces add contrast and warmth to an interior that otherwise is homogenous. A nifty staircase connects the lower living area with the bedrooms on the top level even as the spa zone next to the deck completes a modern home that is understated and exquisite.
Brick exposed concrete rebar and metal oxide give the interior a cozy inviting appeal despite creating a color palette that transports you to an ancient Iranian-style setting. Yet modern industrial elements and a loft-style floor plan ensure that there is a fine balance between the past and the present.
